What's up with all these women retiring at the top of their games??

First, Annika Sorenstam and now Justine Henin.

Both are currently ranked number 1 in their respective sports.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George throws some funny one liners in at work and quits while he's ahead.

I guess Annika is retiring at the end of this season, but Justine is out effective immediately.

You know, in some ways, it's better to go out "on top" than to slide down the back side of being number one, into being a "has been" or "washed up"..

Then again, drag that talent out for what you can get from it, both in enjoyment of the sport, and of course the money...

I'd rather go out on top than on the bottom.

The thinking here, is that if I went out on top -- I'd crush someone underneath me.

.....or did I miss something here?

I don't see anything wrong with having your priorities in order.

Because the top of "their" game is no longer the top of "the" game.

Annika hasn't been #1 for the past year . . . currently #2. But she is making a comeback of sorts . . .

I think a lot of women have other things they'd rather do. Men, not as much. kj.
