Can I get a delivery receipt?

not built in natively. there are some terminal "hacks" that can give you that functionality, but it's somewhat limited in how flexible it is, I believe. google "mac os x mail return receipts"

I basically *never* click the button to send a receipt. I just cancel and read the message.

This is on a Win XP system, for the record.
