Any hacks to make the Mighty Mouse scroll ball act like a trackball?
#1
Hi,

Picked up an Apple bluetooth Mighty Mouse from Yugster and it works great. Now, I'm wondering if anybody knows of any third party hacks to make the scroll ball act like a trackball?

Thanks.

Don't undersand the question.

The scroll ball does act like a trackball, but downside up.

Hold the Mighty Mouse upside down?

How would a software hack help?

No, unfortunately the scroll ball does one thing: scroll within windows. Yes, it can scroll vertical, horizontal and even 360 degrees...but this is all within windows. It does not function as a true trackball, meaning it does not control the pointer outside of a window. You have to move the mouse on your desk in order to move the pointer.

I'm looking for a 3rd party hack that will make the scroll ball into a trackball, providing the functionality of a true trackball, such as those made by Logitech, Kensington, etc.

Can I iron my clothes by running over them with my car?

I've searched & I wasn't able to find anything.

By the way pinkoos, that's for letting us know about the Yugster deal. I picked one up from them.

I have my old G5 Mac Pro hooked up to my 52" Panasonic TV. This mouse works great! Now if I could find a deal on a keyboard.

martin doesn't understand.

The Kensington Blade is a BT mouse/trackball combo.

When you flick a switch, the mouse's srcoll ball then functions as a trackball. Neat, but I don't think it works with MouseWorks.

I've talked to Kensington marketing reps on several occasions and the Blade and it's brethren are about as close as well ever get to a real Kensington trackball ever again.

That would be one cool hack though.

You might plant that seed over at macOSXhints.
