Other than calling internationally, we wouldn't really have a use for any landline or for VOIP. And yet that (VOIP) seems to be where the cheapest rates are.
It'd be for the occasional use (Germany) and for seasonal use (Nicaragua, which never seems to be on anyone's list of cheaper-rate countries)
The Germany solution could actually be easy; the person there has Skype. But Skype's Nicaragua rate is still $0.20 or so, and the person there doesn't have a computer, much less an ISP.
