I don't get it.
You can't boot from the DW CD?

Strange problem? My computer and some peripherals shutdown. I can't figure out what happened…

O gee! I wasn't even thinking about that, it's been so long since I last used DW. Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

Okay, the DW disk isn't bootable on my MacPro, so that "solution" isn't doable.
![]() On the other hand, I saw the same thing happen again this afternoon, so I called SDG&E and found out that they had experienced a power outage in the next town (Laguna Niguel) and that it had affected a number of circuits in Dana Point. The engineer that I spoke to this afternoon was candid about what happened, but a guy from SDG&E came out tonight and was giving me a line about "there could be a number of reasons why my hard drive died" seemingly to establish a lack of responsibility on their part. If anyone has knowledge about situations like this I'd like to hear about it. I'm wondering about what actually happened that could bypass my surge protectors and UPS? Also, that since my Maxtor drive was "killed," do you think that my system has sustained damage that won't show up immediately and if so, how should I approach the electric company for compensation? Thanks again for your thoughts, GeneL

I think it might be time to upgrade to DW 4.
![]() As for the UPS, if it didn't have active power conditioning then a surge or power-dip could easily have gotten past it and fried something. |
