I'm got a burned DVD of a company training class that I need to rip into a format that works well with iMovie. I need to get this video into iMovie so I can add titles and do some basic editing.
I'm using Handbrake and every time I rip the DVD and create a file it is grayed out in iMovie's import and is not selectable.
I've searched Google and not come up with anything, any help is very appreciated.

Using iMovie 06, I usually rip w/MTR, then use MPEG Streamclip to convert to DV (uncompressed video). Then I import into iMovie.
For a home burned DVD, you can just drag the .VOB's right off the DVD. rename them .mpg since those are mpeg 2 files.

I run them through Visual Hub (extinct now, but there are copies out there). I convert the VOB to DV as Rolando says above.
In iMovie 6, I then create a project and quit iMovie. Right click on the project and select 'show package contents'. In the package contents, drop the DV files in the Media Folder and close package contents.
Reopen your project and it will tell you some files were found in the trash, would you like to view trash? Click yes there are your DV files that you can drag out of the trash.
This saves all the import time. I haven't tried it in '08 but it may work.
