'Race to Witch Mountain' and remade/reimagined cinema in general
#1
I haven't seen the film, but I already detest it; the preview is in HIGH rotation and it just looks like truly horrible cinema. They took an innocent Disney adventure flick—a piece of Americana, even—and remade it as schlock, replete with a stereotypical slimey alien and explosions. What is the fascination with explosions? For that matter, what is the point of remaking everything, especially when you intentionally change the whole story? If you want to freaking change the plot, why brand it to an existing name? A new idea would've at least stood a chance into evolving into acceptable entertainment, had they not tried to mold it into something it isn't. Meh.

It's designed for 4 year old kids.

They don't know the original.

Explosions are engaging to simple minds.

...hollywood is very lazy. . .they aren't even trying anymore. . .they are just remaking everything. . .

. . .something uniques comes along rarely. . .they were going to release "Slumdog. . ." direct to video. . .

. . .imagine that . . .

It's not as if the original was actually a good movie - cause it wasn't

"Good" depends on your perspective and what you're judging it against. It was a good, safe movie for kids, in the vein of "The Cat from Outer Space" or "The Shaggy D.A."

I can't wait to see "Herbie the love Bug" reimagined.
Explosions, slimy aliens, greek chorus trailer, the whole bit.

Black,

You must have missed Herbie Fully Loaded. I didn't even waste my time.
