Printing a book:
#1
I am involved in getting a book printed and I have a couple of questions.

1. Would you print a 200-page, Smythe-sewn hardcover book with a dust jacket -- quantity of 7,000 -- on a web press? I was thinking yes, but now I'm not as sure this is the way to go, is that quantity too small? Images are important in this book, btw.

2. I'm being pressured to print offshore. I've got a place in Italy I can quote with but I have to have at least one Asian printer, preferably Chinese, because someone very very important thinks that's the place to go. Anyone have any recommendations for a printer over there who can deliver a beautiful coffee-table sort of a book?

Many local printers are struggling through this recession and would probably match almost any overseas quote. I can refer you to a specialty book printer in Dallas, and I know they do good work because I'm employed by another division. Drop me a PM with your business contact phone, if you are interested.
