What type of Collie is Misty? We always want a collies but not sure we can keep up with their intelligence and high energy. We had a mixed border collie once. He sure kept me in shape!

Kap - she's apparently an australian shepherd mix. We have NO idea what she is. She's actually fairly tiny for such mixes, from what I've seen. She's long and skinny with REALLY long legs. I think she only weighs about 35 lbs but she's almost as tall as Puddles (who weighs 60+ lbs).
Misty is very high energy and intelligent but she manages to amuse herself most of the time. All 3 dogs love the squeaky Cuz toys. She tends to hoard them under the bed since the other dogs can't get to them there. She also knows how to open doors (we have the lever type handles). She lets herself out when she wants. When we have guests, we have to warn them to lock the bedroom door unless they want an early morning wake up visit from her.  Outside, she loves to play herder. She will often crouch in a corner until one of the dogs walks near and then she'll pounce on them. She also plays soccer by herself. It's the funniest thing to see. She also has some quirks, like herding her food bowl all over the house. When she finds a spot she likes, she'll go find a rug, shoe, toy, plastic bag, etc. to place on top of her food. I guess it's her way of hiding it.

Your Misty's temperament, intelligence, energy and quirks remind me of the Border Collie mutt we had. Until this day I still regret having to give him away to our former next door neighbors.

I can't help but wonder if Misty has some border collie in her too. I am incredibly tempted to waste some $ on those doggie DNA tests to find out what Puddles and Misty might be. Puddles is the other mystery mutt. Her mom was supposedly part cocker spaniel.
