Old-timers from the "old forum" Poll...

Posted unregistered for a while, used my real name for a while, changed to wave rider a long time ago. Had to lose the space between at one forum briefly, otherwise no changes.

FranX happened when we were adopting odd names/special characters as inspired by The Lope (sorry, don't know how to do the danish O on a PC). The VP thing happened in a thread where we were all giving ourselves positions in the forum government. "You can't handle" came along in reference to a handle someone else was using at the time.
This is all post-server loss, so should all be there somewhere, although I doubt even any of us have that much time on our hands.

I almost forget the story. I used to go by Frank, but then people wanted me to get a more unique handle as I think there were a couple Franks. So there was a big long thread about what my new name should be.

Of course, a forum name is also a "handle". So the "you can't handle" means more so "you can't name", and the more obvious meaning is just secondary.

Then Grim named himself president, and I got to be vice president. So that was the VP. And as I mentioned, when OS X came out, the k changed to an x.

Went with jimbrady in 2001 (after much lurking) in order to have a nick which would be assumed by everyone to be my real name, but which would get under the skin of the inimitably abrasive Furious Styles. I posted rejoinders to his posts on several occasions and then stayed on forever.

Can't figure out how to show posts earlier than 2003 in the search results.

I was Russell for a small bit then it was vision63 which was my old AOL handle. Any Russell I hunt for over there isn't me and I've been around since maybe 96? Maybe earlier. I've gone from my 30's to 50 years old.

Interesting reading this thread. I had no idea that MAVIC was YCHTVPFX.

And I remember the move from "dealchat" to "dealmac forums..." not a very popular move.

Was ron on dealchat back before we had to register. So I went to register ron, and someone else beat me to it! So I became rz.

rz, I beat you to it, at least if you capitalize the 'r'. Then as 'Ron' I was banned so I re-registered as 'Ron banned'. I tried to register as 'Ron' here but I used my AOL email account and AOL determined that email from OWC was spam so AOL didn't let me have the email I needed to confirm registration.
