Try clove oil. Dip a q-tip in it and bit on it using the tooth that aches. I've heard that it tastes awful, but works wonders if the ache is due to an infection.

My new crown seems must be interfering with the natural tooth or teeth it interacts with.
He just spent about 5 minutes grinding it down a bit more.
We'll see how this goes.
