I hate iDVD--How do you get rid of the *&^%$ theme?
#1
How do you kill the theme? I don't want a theme. I just want a looping autoplay slideshow with music. Now the DVD doesn't want to burn because there were "warnings during project validation." I suspect it has something to do with putting the slideshow before the theme.

And I don't want the theme, but I think I said that before.

Please do not tell me to go buy some software, because this is a volunteer project. I own iLife 08, and that is what I need to use to produce a simple, looping, autoplay slideshow with music.

Also, I get a message that I can only play the music on authorized machines. I loaded the music into iTunes from my very own CDs that I paid Yankee dollars for. What business is it of Apple's?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Love and kisses, Gutie

I wish I could help, but I have very little, almost no, experience with iDVD. I hope someone will post something helpful. I just wanted to offer my sympathy. Sad

1. Open iDVD help menu and type in "changing theme" FYI

or

2. Hold down the control key and click on theme window and select "show inspector window" to change theme elements to your liking.

or

3. Google

No problemo.

The trick is to use the "Map" view. That will allow you to set up both autoplay and looping. In fact, what you're looking for is directly explained in Help: Just enter autoplay in the help search field. A page entitled "Creating a looping autoplay DVD" will be listed.

Now you can love again...

Thanks!

I found out that in map view you simply move your material before the theme and though the theme is still there it has no influence, like a substitute teacher in sixth grade.

I know how to authorize and deauthorize a computer. My problem was that this DVD needed to play on a 27-inch Philips television set with built-in DVD and I didn't know how to authorize THAT.

And since I did not buy any of the music from JobsCo, I didn't see why my use of it was any of JobsCo's business.

The disc plays on my home DVD player, though, so I have hopes.

Maybe, and I say maybe because I've never done it myself, you can make the video (pictures and music) in iMovie first, then save as DV format. I think that format will easily burn to a DVD, even through the Finder.

If it were my project, I'd start there first.
