I was placing an online Petco order, and I noticed I'd get $5 off if I used Google checkout. Sounds good. Except I opened my Google checkout account about a year ago, so it was showing my old e-mail address. Changing that is easy, right? Maybe not, at least not for me. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
I found the area in which I could change the address, but they told me I couldn't use my gmail account for the Google Checkout account, although I don't know why. So, I edited the account again and used my Comcast address. I got the e-mail confirming they'd received a request sent to the new address, but I had to click on a link in order for the change to be finalized. Clicking on the link took me to a Google account page. OK. And then I had to sign in to verify I was really me. But the verification didn't verify, because the e-mail address that's attached to the verification is the old one, and that account has been closed.
Does this mean I have to set up a brand new Google checkout account? Or am I overlooking something very basic and important?!
