Someone explain this Verizon commercial to me.

OK, I sound like my mother, asking others to explain commercials. But this one makes NO sense to me. The other Verizon "maps" commercials I get. One is actually even kind of good - the guy whose Verizon map is blocking the TV because it's so dense. But this one...?!

The reindeer are ready to pull a magic sleigh because they have Verizon cell phones? And Blitzen has an AT&T phone, which means what, he can't surf the web when he's delivering gifts to Wyoming? He's not able to be a magical flying reindeer in areas that don't have 3G coverage? WTF?

I've seen (and made, mind you) my share of stupid commercials but this one looks like design by committee. They needed something with a Christmas tie in and the entire idea got lost between the agency, client, director, and editor.

Lowest common denominator rules American TV.

Santa's Verizon contract (extras for the reindeer) stipulate that they all "combine" their coverage maps in order circumnavigate the globe. Blitzen went all rouge on him.

It's about as informative as AT&T's map of 'postcards from AT&T users" that attacks Verizon's ad.

Saying that... My Verizon phone has awesome coverage almost regardless of where I am in the US. I just wish that they had upgraded their technology.

Yes they are both about as informative, but at least the AT&T one makes sense. It's not particularly good but it conveys a clear message. The reindeer ad, feels like it's missing a piece or two of the story.

I didn't have any problem with any of the ads and I'm by no means a genius (no comments!!).

That's not a natural blush on him.
