New Apple TV coming
#1
After reading this http://www.macworld.com/article/145998/2...c=rss_main
I predict that the A4 will show up in a new Apple TV later this year.
It sounds like it's perfect for it. We'll finally get true 1080p on the ATV.

They need to upgrade the hardware and upgrade the software. Give it DVR capabilities. Give it a nice lightweight web browser. Give it a better remote. And then market it aggressively.

MacArtist, see me for a sticker you can place over the Mac mini of your choice.

Mini might work if Apple would provide audio over DisplayPort.

I doubt there will ever be an AppleTV DVR. Not only does it go against Apple's iTunes model, but it would be too difficult to incorporate and support the different TV options (cable, satellite, OTA). Well, OTA would be easy but may not represent a big enough market on its own. And I doubt Apple wants to handle a bunch of suport calls about cablecards. More likely would be the monthly subscription option that would let you download or stream a variety of shows.

Although I agree that the next model of Apple TV will likely be powered by the A4, the current model already does "true 1080p."

On the other hand, Apple limits source material to 720p24 for good, practical reasons mostly having to do with the bandwidth limitations of most end users' Internet connections.

Why do you need that? I have a Mini working as a media center and simply run the audio separately...or you can get an adapter to combine your displayport and digital audio into HDMI http://gizmodo.com/5380669/mini-displayp...dio-review , not to mention various other options.

Apple needs to update this devise to offer NetFlix support right out of the box!!! Not 100% sure it needs DVR support but that would be nice.
