Costco/B&J/Sams Club membership: worth it or not?
#31
We've had a Costco membership for many years, in 2 states. We had a BJs membership for several years, although it never had the benefits that I think Black is seeking.

For us, BJs is close but we let it lapse when we both lost our jobs. We weren't really using it much. Gas was sometimes cheaper but not always, and we had to go out of our way to know.

Costco gas seems ALWAYS cheaper than anywhere else. Their Kirkland-brand case of micro brews tastes very good and is a good deal. Their electronics warranty is well-known. Photo prints are inexpensive and among the very best available anywhere, and better than most. And so on. We don't shop there every week, but often enough find interesting things. Not everything is huge quantities.

Most everyone here has talked about Costco or Sams. Hardly anyone mentioned BJ's.

Ooh, what a setup-- wish I'd have waited.

One thing I forgot to mention. My experience is that Costco has more merchandise clearly labeled "Gluten Free" than I've seen at Sam's Club or BJ's.

testcase - I was just going to mention, that on my few missions to any of these stores, there is very little quailty, glutenfree, chemical/msg free, food. Lots of junk, I don't eat since gf.

The sizes are kooky, I don't have storage, quality paper towel, laundry detergents, tissue can be had at much better prices on sale, with coupons, at CVS, Kroger, Publix

I went in Sams the other day for contacts, and did not buy, customer service was horrible. No choice in glasses frames either.

I would have looked at dryers, but they no longer stock them. Saw nothing I wanted or lusted after, except a big TV which I cannot afford.

I can buy trash bags, storage products elsewhere for better prices, even target brand on sale.

I could see where families could benefit, diapers and such. A friend shops there and picks up bell peppers, huge bags of baking soda, for me.
