iPhoto/Aperture GPS tip...
#1
Instead of buying an expensive doo-dad for your camera to register location information, just take your theoretically smart phone that "does" record the positioning and snap a photo at each shooting location. Sync the phone to your Mac, import the pic and copy and paste location info in the other images taken in the same place in iPhoto:

or Aperture. I just select the corresponding images and drag them to the Palm Pre photo pinned in the Locations area of the program. I'll sometimes open up the Google Maps app and press the find current location dealie first to be sure.

I have this device: http://www.amazon.com/AGL3080-Driverless...B000WO6HJW

I like it because it creates a gps track file. Downside is that the file needs to be converted with GPSBabel, which can also convert the file into a Google Earth kml file. I then use GPS Photolinker to add the gps data to the photos. Both programs are free and the process is easier than it sounds. I wonder if I can use the gps file from GPSBabel with Aperture. While it is another device, I turn it on and it tracks location without me having to take a picture with my iPhone every place I take pictures with my other cameras.

Cool device. That would be helpful on a long hike.
