Droid + MacBook?

Can my brother hook his new moto Droid up to his MacBook and use it as his internet connection?

I rooted my Andoird and am using the free wireless tethering app... works great...I use it mostly for my iPad.

There is a wired tethering app you can use as well - without rooting.
It is a little more complicated.
