I like mine so much I'm fighting the urge to buy another (have absolutely no use for it . . .)

What kind of panel does it have? TN, IPS, S-IPS or something else? Are the colors accurate? Could it be used for modifying photos, some light web page design, video editing?

You can pretty much always tell by looking at the viewing angle in the specs whether it's an IPS. I wanted an IPS badly but there's nothing out there in this size much under a grand at the moment. There are a lot of comments on the newegg page which should give hints about the quality- sorry don't have any way to answer definitively other that that the quality is impressive and definitely better than any other (non IPS) panel that I own.
