Snow leopard... Can I finally load it?
#1
MacBook Pro w/ 4 Gigs of memory... I really want to load snow leopard ... Using it for Freelance work. Mainly using Text Wrangler for CSS / XHTML, Fetch, CS4 (Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), Mail, safari and FireFox... I also write music w/ Reason 4.

Should I hold off until 10.6.2? or can I move forward.

Backup with Time Machine good enough? Should I do a Carbon Copy cloaner? Any other backups to make sure I can revert back to 10.5 if I need to?

I made a bootable clone of my 10.5.x before I upgraded. That way, if something went wrong or I ran into an unacceptable incompatibility, all I had to do was re-clone the system back.

TM is a great backup to have but it is not a replacement for a bootable system clone.

I've got SL installed on its own drive inside my home Mac Pro, but I'm waiting on 10.6.2 to spend the time to get it setup and all my apps moved over. It's just not worth the hassle/potential downtime for me to jump in right now for critical freelance work.

10.6.2 should be out pretty soon, so I'm guessing I'll be in SL full time at home within the next several weeks.

I've been running it on the iMac here at work with no problems for about 2 weeks now - still haven't jumped on my MBP - mostly because I'm lazy.

K, think I'll wait for 10.6.2 to finally open my S.L. shipping box!!! I'll even wait a week or two to load 10.6.2 when it does arrive to software update!

Bootable clone... what are you guys using? CCC? something else? which settings are you using?

SuperDuper! http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/S...ption.html

Backup - all files & Copy ACLs

Pretty straightforward Big Grin

the only reason i can think of to _NOT_ upgrade is because you use guest mode. everything else should be safe.
