At least one unconfirmed tornado in the Chicago suburbs.
A number of homes and businesses majorly damaged or totally flattened.
A woman was impaled by a tree branch that flew through the windshield of her car.
70,000 without power in the general area right now

Definitely not an insignificant storm here.

So far, here in northern MI all we're getting is heavy rain. The high winds are supposed to be here shortly, with gusts up to 50mph lasting until tomorrow night. I think I have enough gas for the generator.

i emailed close friends in Chicago (near Wrigley field) a few hours ago asking how they were doing. they have a huge tree in their backyard that they had been thinking about cutting down but hadn't. i hope she holds.

I rode my bike to work and back without event, in short sleeves with no jacket.
The wind cleared the leaves out of my yard and dumped a hanging plant, but was also nice enough to clear away all the dirt that had been in the pot. Awaiting petunias in unexpected places next year.

A new all-time record low pressure for Minnesota was set at 28.22 inches today. You could almost see the stars during the day through the lowered atmosphere. Almost.
