#1
10 predictions for 2011 from Cringely, with number 10 on the verge of blowing my mind. I would really like Apple to do something like this. What say you?

I kinda like that idea because I have TWC and can't imagine Apple reducing my satisfaction with them.

mattkime, heh!

I certainly would prefer cable tv to be a web/internet-based service than its own animal. It would be preferable to Netflix, Hulu or iTunes because of its programming options are more current and complete. If Apple gobbled up a cable company such as TW Cable and designed software/hardware that enabled you to use a Mac or PC as an HD DVR and on-demand HD-download device, it would make me smile inside.

Not.
Bloody.
Likely.

Why own the content when you can sell it ?

Why own the delivery system when you can sell the equipment that makes it possible ?

It would be like Ford or GM buying all the interstate turnpikes.

I'm having a real hard time swallowing his prediction that this will be the last year of 3.5" hard drives.

It ain't gonna happen. 3.5" drives are still increasing in capacity--I'm the proud owner of a 3 terabyte drive myself, and multiple 2 TB 3.5" drives. If SSDs got to the point where they were competitive price-wise and capacity-wise with 3.5" SATA drives, that could be the end of them.

Ooh, ooh! I rarely get to use this word as genuinely and appropriately as this:

Poppycock!
