yup, very nice player and some cool touches, like fades on intros and outs. and voice recorder that is not half bad. and an FM recorder, if you can believe that. or need it. it does benefit greatly from better quality recordings. the 128 variety sound rather crapp(ier) on the clip for some reason than my original iPod.
I sent my older 2gb model through the laundry this week so I'm now shopping for a newer + model, but I'll probably wait until I can snag a refurb.

Haven't paid attention . . .
But-- am I reading correctly that you can double the capacity to 8 GB with a micro-SD card?
Or a 16? 32?

BTW-- it becomes ever clearer that the forum folk who have an interest in small portable players are a minority. When/where do you use yours?
Me: to make several long-ish bus rides a week enjoyable.
(edit-- added "small"-- would not want the bulk of a Touch or Classic-sized player on my person while mobile)

I use mine around the house if I'm cleaning or just trying to keep an eye on my daughter as she makes a disaster from room to room. I also use them when walking or if I am shopping at Target or the grocery store. I have the original Clip. Love them. The Clip+ is better, but since my players are still functional, I can wait a while for the Clip++.

Hmmm . . . guessing you don't use noise-isolating plugs then? They're the only option for me as no others offer adequate bass.

the small size is great not just for the gym or jogging - it's nice to not have to hide it in the car; it's so freaking small that it's hard to see from the exterior. and since it weighs next to nothing, you don't mind tagging it onto the bottom of a shirt, as I do. and, the sound really is good. maybe not great, but good. I can't compare it to a Nano, since I don't own that model.

That's kind of amazing. The sweet spot seems to be 16 GB-- ~$22; if these things popped up at $40 again you'd have yourself a 24 gig player (with radio) for around $60.
Would have to hear it to really judge though-- if the sound is not as good as a 5th gen Nano, I consider the $100 difference well worth it.
I won't buy a new iPod on principle now because of the lack of card expandability. We Apple-niks have come to expect built-in limits as some kind of obligatory neutering.
