Yup, Expandible with micro SD card.

That's kind of amazing. The sweet spot seems to be 16 GB-- ~$22; if these things popped up at $40 again you'd have yourself a 24 gig player (with radio) for around $60.
Would have to hear it to really judge though-- if the sound is not as good as a 5th gen Nano, I consider the $100 difference well worth it.
I won't buy a new iPod on principle now because of the lack of card expandability. We Apple-niks have come to expect built-in limits as some kind of obligatory neutering.
That's a good point and you're right, I guess I have.
Presently it's looking like the 5th gen Nano is the last portable music device Apple will produce that suits my needs. Will definitely expect expandability next time I make a purchase.

Hmmm . . . guessing you don't use noise-isolating plugs then? They're the only option for me as no others offer adequate bass.

Nope, many times I only leave one earphone connected so that I can be a little more aware of my surroundings. I use my Clip mostly for podcasts. Works fine for music, but I have less time to sit around listening to music.

BTW-- it becomes ever clearer that the forum folk who have an interest in small portable players are a minority. When/where do you use yours?

Used a shuffle first gen. not the turd gen, "gum stick" variety for a while while I worked outside in the yard or bike riding. Ended up giving it up to my moms. Nice and simple. Memory was the limiting neutering factor for it to get replaced. The only problem I found was the manual syncing with iTunes. Not difficult, just another step.

I bought one of those once-- tried it out, thought the sound was harsh and brittle, lent it to someone and never saw it again-- my donation to Apple.
Occasionally I'll have earphones in while doing stuff, pretty much only when coming home from aforementioned bus ride and not yet wanting to cut the cord-- I can't imagine bicycling for one minute with earphones in though.

When cycling, I only had one bud in my ear. The other ear was reserved for traffic Wink.

"The only problem I found was the manual syncing with iTunes. Not difficult, just another step." Should have included. NON iPod MP3 player syncing with iTunes.

Someone posted a link in an earlier thread for a program that allowed iTunes syncing with Sansa players. I drag and drop files from iTunes onto the appropriate folder on the Clip and call it a day, but some people might prefer the Sansa iTunes sync software.
