I found it but evo won't let me uninstall it. Does not appear to be running but some other stuff I don't need was. Turned them off.

What's the point of using Android if you don't have control of software? Can't you root it and kick the crapware to the curb?

Turn off all of that Blockbuster stuff. Mine charges normally but that bloatware kept checking whatever it checks.

That's a misleading article. Gingerbread, while released in the field is incomplete and unofficial. 0% of Android users should be using it. Froyo, Android 2.2 is the latest "official" release. As of Dec 10th, 43% of Android phones were using Froyo. The earlier Android phones will never qualify to upgrade to it.

To get rid of crapware? Buying an Android phone from a major carrier is looking more and more like buying a consumer Windows PC. Full of crap you would never use anyway and a pain in the butt to get rid of any of it.

That's why I got the Nexus S. Gingerbread 2.3 and pure Google Android. No crapware, bloatware, manufacturer UI, etc.

Just pure and yummy and warm and fuzzy gingerbread.

Unlocked is the way to go. I don't mind some of the manufacturer UI I've seen, but it takes Samsung, Motorola, etc. such a long time to get Android ported over with their custom UI.
