I've NEVER seen a strong conservative even try that here. It's always Rush's talking points, or repeating the same damn "question" over and over when its been addressed a hundred freaking times, or at best some vaguely whiney stereotyped presumption about what liberals REALLY want, e.g. to control our lives or take our money.
Actually, that pretty much describes all strong conservative discourse of the last ten years everywhere. Bill Buckley has got to be rolling in his grave.
(When cbelt gets thoughtful, he starts to sound suspiciously moderate, which is telling in and of itself.)
That could be because todays moderate Democrats are yesterdays Republicans. The country has been jerked so far right that what was a laughing stock 50-years ago (John Birch Society etc.) has become the staple of today's right wing thought.
The idea that this country has any sort of viable "left wing" is laughable. What we in fact have is a moderate middle opposed and attacked by a well-funded and tightly organized radical right.

That's what I'm afraid of. Thoughtful strong-right conservatives don't post here because their aren't any.

What you consider "thoughtful" conservative ideas aren't conservative. So when you don't see them you resort to name calling. The other thing is you can't admit to who you are. You ridicule the fact that the Democrat party agenda is to take our money and run our lives but that is precisely what they try do 24/7. Name one liberal policy that encourages individualism, free choice and independence from the government.

I am tired of the notion that no one, anywhere, from either side of the political spectrum ever does anything because he sincerely believes it to be the best thing to do. I think that's why most things happen, yet the gaggle of cynics here has to believe that every act has a sinister, manipulative and self-serving motive. The whole notion of the president timing this raid to get a bump in the polls just frosts me. The refusal to consider the facts is appalling and provocative. If you are going to troll bait, don't get upset when the fish bite.

The idea that almost every executive government decision is either idiologicaly or personally driven is a natural consequence of having recently lived through two previous administrations where that was a fact.
That a decision could be based on merit rather than political advantage became the exception. We have an entire younger generation who've never been exposed to anything approaching "noblesse oblige" or altruism for sake of the greater good.

That's so funny acer. When cbelt starts being moderate (agreeing with you), he begins to sound so much smarter. kj.

Using the term "Democrat party" instead of "Democratic party" is right wing rudeness. You cannot construct even one paragraph without tipping your hand, Dakota.
