Your taxes would go DOWN if they didn't go to the oil companies.
What is the evidence that trickle down economics actually works?

You mean there is a lockbox for it? You send money to Washington and they will spend it any way they want. Look at what they are doing with social security taxes.

You will have to excuse him: Dakota is amongst the small minority in this country that thinks paying increasing amounts to these companies will curry favor with them somehow. One must feel sorry for the reality challenged group to which he belongs.
Never ceases to amaze me when people who are NOT rich, defend the rich and their schemes to take even more of their money.

The fund is used as a piggy bank for just about everything that comes along. You know that. Why do you ask?

I know what is done with FICA taxes. What is your concern, specifically?

This all started by Dennis S who said if you raise taxes on oil companies my taxes will go down. I am saying short of a legal contract there is no such reciprocity. You send money to washington and they spend it anyway they wish even if it collected for a specific program. For centuries rulers have come to power promising to soak the rich and give it to the poor. Often, only the first part of the promise has been carried out.

So, no concern with FICA?
US Social security is the world's largest and most efficiently run social service program. I'm sure that the gov't would be happy to consider your proposals for improvement, what are they?

I am not getting through to you. I am not debating the merits of the system. I am saying the money they collect to ostensibly fund the program is spent elsewhere. How many times do I have to say it? This fact apparently bothers you enough to pretend no to understand it.

Which year(s) are you talking about? Where was the money spent, other than on benefits? |
