The way to combat this is not to sub-divide or restrict the forum (both of which I adamantly oppose), but to add topics the type of which you wish to see more of. If others fall into that groove, pretty soon you'll have your wish. No forced changes required.

But while we're at it, I'll post my pet peeve: many, MANY threads with an uninformative headline and nothing but a link. How about a sentence or even a sentence fragment giving a hint at what you want us to click on and why?

Not at all, but this set up just seems friendlier than DM was at the end.
To me, it feels messier because I have to scan a lot of topic headings that are irrelevant to anything Tips and Deals and/or very obscure.

Thanks, there's a LOT of hostility on this forum at times.

Yeah, I think one of the reasons for my posting this thread is that recently I have been wasting a lot of time trying to figure out obscure thread titles and wondering if it's worth clicking on them.

At some point, topics that you may want to follow such as, just an example, which brand of paired memory sticks work best in which model, disappear all too quickly because they are subsumed by "what's your dinner?" threads.
