I just ignore the threads about dinnertime and TV shows and football and other stuff I'm not interested in reading about or contributing to. I do rely a lot on this board for Mac advice, for which I am grateful, and sometimes for advice on other purchases (e.g. vacuums, shavers, tires, etc.), and sometimes for conversation or links to newsy items I would have missed (like the Pongyang photos yesterday). So I guess on balance I'd vote to keep it the way it is.

Good to see lots of responses jumping down IronMac's throat!
But while we're at it, I'll post my pet peeve: many, MANY threads with an uninformative headline and nothing but a link. How about a sentence or even a sentence fragment giving a hint at what you want us to click on and why?
Thanks, there's a LOT of hostility on this forum at times.
Yeah, I think one of the reasons for my posting this thread is that recently I have been wasting a lot of time trying to figure out obscure thread titles and wondering if it's worth clicking on them...
Just wanted everyone to read this again. I left the other board back in the day, I love this place, I love the "chatting" AND the MacAdvice, and with a teensy bit of consideration (like better thread titles, less douchebaggery) it'd improve 200%.
Agreed. Subject titles that don't even give you a clue as to the content and blind links with no description are just rude, no matter what forum they are posted in.

Really this forum doesn't get enough "tips" to justify itself as only a tip and deal forum. There are a few here and there but mostly this is a place for mac centric people to hang out and talk and sometimes it's not about computers.

And if the thread titles are descriptive, that'll make it easier to skim the forum.
... and the strict "Mac & Deal seekers" can go:
"Skip, skip, skip, CLICK, boring, boring, boring, CLICK, kittens, puppies, donkeys, CLICK."

I'm on an email list and sometimes people bring up complaints similar to IronMac's. Non-descriptive subjects aren't really an issue because if you do that you'll get yourself banned. But for other things people have taken to volunteer thread tagging. They simply add a [tag] to the beginning of the subject, similar to "OT:" Then people who don't want to hear about jobs can just ignore the [jobs] tag.
Here that might work if people put things like [food] or [tv] to start their descriptive subject line.

I'm sick of all of you. But I still come here daily hoping for a shaving thread.

Sushi! There's a new kaitenzushi place (the conveyor belt thing) in our neighborhood. Been wanting to try it and now you've got me thinking about it. Nice weather over here, perfect for consuming delectable fish!

"Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come. "
Perhaps, you need a personal Jobu? ? ? ? ? ?

I find that after a good workout if I sit in the steam room for just a few minutes that shaving becomes very very easy for me. Plus getting it done at the club leaves the mess at the club.
