It was Eyna's self-titled album. Then it was a Fresh Aire album.. because the 'audiophile' quality LP was sounding a bit iffy..

Dark Side of the Moon.

I have paid for that music on album, 8 track, cassette, and CD. I think Pink has made enough off of me for that music.

I remember buying the Dire Straits CD, not too long after, and being amazed at how clean and clear it was. I still have both in their original jewel boxes, too. Smile

Bought my first CD player in the early 80's. It was the Sony Discman, I think it had a 50 in the name. I think it is also still lying around somewhere. I had the powered speakers that you plugged it into, so I could take it in the car when I had to drive on long business trips. The sound was just so much better than tapes, that it was hard to go back to listening to them in the car.

Dire Straits first CD. I believe it was the first CD that was completely digital as opposed to analog recording converted to digital.

When you posted that I thought so too, but it appears that it was Ry Cooders "Bop Till You Drop"
which was helluva album too. I think it was amoung the earliest I bought too.

Paul Simon, Graceland

I started buying CDs a couple of years before I got a CD player because my dad enjoyed making tapes.
The 1st totally digital CD that I recall was Alan Parson's Project 'Stereotomy.' The absence of background hiss was amazing & very noticeable.

I really can't recall. Probably something jazz.

I remember my first CD player was a $600 Denon. Pricey because I was an audiophile then but it was a really beautiful piece of equipment.

I got Dark Side of the Moon and U2's Under a Blood Red Sky, along with my first CD player for Xmas back in 1985 or 86.
