You thought the Zimmerman case could not get more strange but it just did

Prosecution now asking for a new lesser included charge of 3rd degree child abuse. The basis would be reckless use of a firearm during the commission of child abuse or neglect.

Defense wants 2nd degree murder, or nothing.

Tactical ploys to increase the likelihood of getting a decision in their favor (on both parts) that seems to have little to nothing to do with justice.

Child Abuse ? REALLY ? Abusing a child by shooting him to death ?

Florida... your laws are really , really stupid.

well yeah, if you shoot a child you will be charged with murder while committing child abuse, which is a more serious offense than killing an adult.

the problem is what was Zimmerman doing that would be considered child abuse and does it matter that he couldn't tell TM was legally a child. (on the latter apparently it doesn't)

I'm going with that he walks on self-defense. I think tossing up every possible alternate charge weakens the prosecution's case.

This judge should just allow the prosecution to keep throwing crap at the contempt-for-justice wall until something sticks.
