I'm starting to get the sense that the rationale for this might be monetary...? OWC Larry, can you confirm/deny?

Only a few of us have done that manually. I don't think it was ever really a "standard" here. At DM, it was an option when you posted to add it to it.

It's not broken so don't fix it!

One thing I think we can take a bit of hopefulness from is just how incredibly clear the poll results are turning out to be.

Currently:
Yes! I like the new structure idea as is! 4 4%
NO! Leave it alone! I love looking everything! 97 94%
Yes, but I want more categories (comment below) 2 2%

It's actually quite amazing how much of us are voting the same. We should also be hopeful that Larry wants it to stay the same way.

And in the early days, when people manually inserted OT, others would post that OT is not needed, and that nothing is off topic here, and that was the whole point of this forum.

Suprise surprise, people who don't visit the political forum are overwhelmingly OK with it going away.

This is not accurate.
Larry is rememering that people used to do it manually at DM/F until they added the checkbox option to phorum.
We have never done it here, and when discussed in the past there was general agreement that we were extremely happy to be free of it.
Only pRon uses it here , but oddly enough only for some subset of his OT threads (e.g. not camera threads.)

I used to use it. Not sure how my statement isn't accurate.

I like the single flow format. Please don't sub categorize.
