Stargate SG-1 question
#1
i'm rather late to the SG-1 party. i would watch it occasionally when my local station broadcasts it at midnight on saturdays. i got someone caught up earlier this year when sci-fi starting broadcasting consecutive episodes for a while but then they switched to grouping by plot themes so i stayed out of whack.

my question is this, on my local broadcast i keep seeing episodes that end with jack and carter fishing, jack saying there's no fish in his lake, and daniel and t'lk (sp?) bringing a cooler.

is there more than one damn episode that ends like this cuz i swear i've seen this a number of times? is this an SG-1 inside joke? i feel like i'm stuck in a time warp every time it happens!

More than one episode ends like this.

The running joke is that there are no fish in the lake. At least there weren't for something like 8 seasons of the show.

There are at least two episodes that end like this. One episode ends with them fishing in the pond. On a later episode, after they came back from a journey into the past, they show what appears to be the same scene but Jack, I think, gets a hit on his fishing line indicating that there are now fish in the pond. Sort of an inside joke that they changed history at least a little with their journey into the past.

There are a lot of small inside jokes that crop up in Stargate from time to time.

BTW, have you seen the "stuck in a time warp" episode? It is one of my personal favorites. I think the episode title is "Looping". If you see it coming on be sure to give it a look see.

yes, i have seen the "looping'" episode. it's what i feel like everytime i see that scene.

last night they did sort of come back from the past (ancient egypt, the alternate daniel and carter lives) although the very end was more like they found out they didn't have to do something in two weeks.

this time when the fish line came up jack said something like 'yeah, that's almost right.' that's when i started thinking inside joke.

Yes, that is the episode that I was talking about. It is rather confusing if you haven't seen most of the older episodes, and in order.

The Sci-Fi channel has Stargate on Monday-Friday at 6pm eastern and they have just started re-running from the beginning, so last week they were only up to like the third or fourth episode, IIRC. I guess they may be running them in order, but I can't say for sure. I think on Friday they may are re-running the previous Friday's new episode, but Monday-Thursday you may be able to do some catching up.

Teal'c not "t'lk"

TV.com has a Recap section for every episode, start reading and you'll be caught up in a while.:

I wish they would show them from the beginning UNCUT, the Stargate series originally started on ShowTime, lots of bare breasted "Babes", all cut now.

The show lost it's touch when Teal'c grew hair. I was a
big fan of the first 4 or 5 seasons but I don't watch it anymore.

Actually, they did. In an episode about the Human Form Replicators, the Human Form Replicator, I can't remember his name and I'm too lazy to look it up, made a copy of Carter. When she was "born" she came out of the wall of replicators in the buff and covered in some wet gooey stuff. So while it was a replicator Carter, it was Amanda Tapping in the buff.

In the strategically-covered buff and shot at discrete angles.
