I'm lucking out—planning to head to NYC on Thursday morning. Looks to be windy but roads should be clear.

driving all night! (probably would have to avoid the traffic anyway.)
any major roadwork through CT or NYC?
it's always a question: Tappan Zee or right through the city.
I tend to go through the city at night because I think it's quicker and more interesting, but getting stuck on the CBE really sucks.

Most of us folk who live up where the snow flies don't change our travel plans, we just know to leave extra time and bring emergency supplies. The *real* problem are the folk from down south who drive up Nawth.
I still remember helping one couple dig and shove their teeny compact car out of a five foot deep snowdrift in Illinois during a Thanksgiving blizzard in the early 1980's. They had driven up from Georgoa. He was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt and tennis shoes, and weighed perhaps 100 lbs wringing wet. She was dressed in an enormous mumu and slippers, and weighed well over 400 lbs. I used her as ballast on the hood of the car while I drove it out (Front wheel drive).
I then encouraged them to buy some winter clothing.

Just planning to leave earlier. Driving from Charleston, SC to Hendersonville, NC. Normally a 3-3.5h drive. But even in the best weather its a chore. The unofficial state motto in SC is "Slower traffic keep left".

Our weather should be OK. The storm seems to be going by us for a change. We'll probably just get some flurries and cool weather. Just hanging around here (Metro Detroit).
