"Gas stations....where nobody knows your name."
#1
I've seen the commercial with the above subject line during the Olympics several times. It's for the Chevy Cruz.

I don't really get it.

The car rarely needs to stop for gas.

It's for a diesel Cruz. The idea is it goes WAY longer between visits and your not buying gasoline.

It's a play on the theme from the teevee show "Cheers." You know, a place where everybody knows your name.

But it's an extremely stupid slogan (without even seeing the commercial). When was the last time anybody at a gas station knew anybody's name? Hello marketing weasel: SELF-SERVE.

God how I hate marketing....

they want you to buy their car... :-)

Don't try to hard to figure it out, just be quicker to the fast forward button in the future...

There are too many gas only locations, unless they are high volume
kiosks. They make money on pure volume with one person clicking buttons
inside. Most need to have a C-store or some other way to make money
to stay afloat. Unless you use your card outside and do not go inside at
all, you do have the opportunity to get to know them.

(climbing on soap box here). The more you go inside and pay cash,
The better, all credit card fees are factored into your cost. No fees with
Cash. Eliminate most card fees, the price drops for everyone.
Unless you are in a retail business, you don 't get to see the enormous
fees payed to credit card companies.

Maybe the ad agency is in New Jersey or Oregon where self-serve is illegal.

The diesel ia a $4000 option on the Cruze plus diesel is $0.80/gal more around here than gas, I'll stick with our Prius.

Note that this is the car from a company that manufactures the Volt at a cost of roughly $89,000 and sells it for $40,000. No wonder the Fed lost money on their bailout.
