Another reason to carry - conceal

Good point, but the strange laws in Ohio pretty much require a conceal carry permit.

Ohio is a traditional open carry state. Recently, the Ohio legislature passed HB-12 over Governor Taft’s veto, thus preempting all local open carry bans even in Ohio’s “home rule” localities. Unfortunately, despite passage of HB-12, a permit to conceal is still required to openly carry a handgun in a vehicle.

By "carry open", do you mean strapped to your hip in a holster like a cowboy?
Yes, Dennis the S, there are parts of this country that are not urban, highly populated, where people do that and if you lived there, you would too....
What possible reason could someone living in the rural US have for carrying a handgun on their hip (or in a concealed holster for that matter) on a daily basis (other than as a compensation for their small manhood). You are deluded if you think this is normal behavior

I do live there. In Arkansas. Out in the country miles from any sign of a city. I wouldn't do it even it were legal in Arkansas.

With snakes and other nasty critter crawling about.
Being bit will be a well deserved compensation for your small and closed mind....

How is shooting a snake going to help stop you from getting bit, unless the snake is blocking your only exit? Most people are bitten by snakes they didn't see, usually when they step on it. If you see the snake just step away. Problem solved.
