FU: FU: Paging any forum Optometrists, Opticians or those experienced with fitting progressive lenses
#1
Previous thread here.

I think I've reached the breaking point with these glasses and I'm giving up. My advice to anyone who's getting glasses for the first time or from a new place is to find out what their policy is on your adapting to them and how they handle returns/refunds so you know what you're getting yourself into. I didn't and I don't think their available options will work for me. :-(

My husband could not adapt to progressives, so he just uses two pairs of glasses.
Sorry that you have had so much trouble with these.

got my first pair from Sams Club and they have a policy that they can be returned if not satisfied.

Sorry your experience with the glasses did not work out.

Costco will also replace lenses that do not work for you. I just ordered my third set of progressives from them. In my case, if I do not like the magnification power, I can get a new set.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

So you're out $700 and have nothing useful? How can you not have any recourse here?

DewGuy,

Did you pay for the glasses with a credit card? If so, then I'd fight the charges and sic the credit card company on them. You may get a partial or full refund and let the Optometrist know this kind of garbage won't be tolerated.

Actually, it's $475 and they said if I don't adapt to these that my options are either bifocals or single vision lenses.

I did use a credit card, but they were paid for at the time of the exam on April 1st (the bill has long since been paid) and they are offering to do something so I don't think I'd have much chance of fighting the charges.

So, from reading your original post at the top, you didn't know this until after you started your quest?

Before this I had no idea that getting glasses could be such an ordeal and since I didn't ask about their policies I didn't have any idea it would come down to this.
