what was the saddest moment in your life
#1
to approach suicide. to be the victim of a situation you couldn't control.

to be the unlikely one not to be loved by a parent.

to lose your hockey stick on the day of a big game.

how do we define our saddness in retrospect of our own experience.

what was your saddest moment.

same as Sam3 - when Mom died unexpectedly just shy of turning 56. Been over 20 years now, but I can still remember that night when I got the news, right down to the look on my friend's face (who I was meeting that night, and who my sister had called shortly before I arrived). It was such an odd look, I came very close to saying "what's wrong - did somebody die or something?" That would have been awkward if I had, I suppose...

Hours after my mom had a stroke. She was only in her '50s. Seeing brain function slip away, inch by inch. Like a train wreck in very slow motion. Now almost 30 years later I sometimes flash back to that when I see her.

But hey, she's still here and I can kiss her every day.

... I'm still not really over that one. Not sure I'll ever be. Sad
