Well, if it were not for Ronald Reagan standing up to the Left and the Communists, we might still be facing the Soviet Union. /Mr Lynn The Soviet Union fell under it's own weight. That you still think it was a Hollywood production says more about your thought process than it does about historical reality. It's always nice when you wrap up history in your own little package, not necessarily accurate but nonetheless reassuring when it bolsters your belief system.

Turn about is fair play: What would you moonbats have us do? Sit back and watch while ISIS takes over all of the Sunni Arab world, and sends its robotic Western converts to infiltrate and terrorize the 'infidel' nations? /Mr Lynn You've got that last part completely backwards. The 3 jihadis who just executed this journalist are BRITS. They were raised and radicalized in London, and went to Syria and elsewhere to do their thing. Also, like al Qaeda before it, ISIS is not a static group of people you can exterminate. ISIS is an ideology, a perverse, twisted idea of Islam. You can't bomb, capture, or kill an ideology, you can only hope that it's followers, present and future, come up with something better to do with their time. Extremism will always be around - I suspect that in a year or two we won't even be discussing ISIS, but some other group will have taken their place. The best thing we can do is help the region grow economically, so that people have hope, and support political stability that reflects what the people actually want. We can identify and arrest the specific people who did this terrible crime, and we will. But they will be martyrs for their cause, it won't be a deterrent. eeewww, you're starting to sound like G. W. yuck, poo

We were winning the Long War against worldwide Islamo-fascism, before this administration came into power. Are you on crack? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

August West wrote: At the end of George W. Bush's second term, Saddam Hussain and sons were gone, al Qaeda in Iraq had been defeated, Khadafy in Libya had been cowed into giving up his nuclear-weapons program, Israel was confident in their US supporter and ally, Islamist movements in Southeast Asia and the Philippines had been weakened (by covert action). Afghanistan's Taliban (with its safe havens in western Pakistan) was still a problem, as was Iran's sponsorship of terrorism and its nuclear program. Syria had yet to erupt, but was under close scrutiny by the US and Israel (as Assad had received truckloads of Saddam's chemical weapons). Most important, it was understood that we were engaged in a decades-long campaign, if not to "drain the swamp," at least to keep the worldwide Islamo-fascist movement on the defensive and preoccupied locally, rather than organizing terrorist attacks against the US and Europe. I think in that sense we were winning, though we had by no means won. North Africa, for instance, was becoming a serious problem. In the last six years, we have taken our eye off the ball. Saddam and sons - dead.
al Qaeda - gone. Osama - dead. Qaddafi - dead. ISIL - makes me almost miss Saddam. 4000 dead troops. Thanks, Pres. Bush, the Great Liar. Israel - more support than ever. People around the world loved and respected Pres. Bush so much, Pres. Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize for being not Pres. Bush.
