I'm prepping a new work machine, and for giggles at the very least, paved over a fresh Win 7 installation with 10. Repaving it with 7 is no big deal, but I thought I'd at least mess around with 10 to see what the fuss is about.
The one industry-related app we have hasn't officially been declared compatible with 10 as of yet, but it's not critical for me, and I'm used to running unsupported/beta configurations anyway.
I desperately miss Exposé when I use PCs, so if there are enough improvements like that, they will be more than enough to offset any growing pains. It's also said to be less resource intensive and equal, if not better in performance (hey Apple, you paying attention?).
I've already turned off all the data mining features, and don't really care what they collect on that machine anyway.
The next step is configuring the machine the way I like it, and installing all the apps. I just hope there aren't any gotchas with the latter.

I have been playing with it this week (in Parallels 10) and so far it is ok. There are a few differences (vs. Win 7 and Win 8) but manageable.

Have been using the beta on a small Asus T100 Tablet/Notebook combo for several months. There is a lot I like about it. Still prefer to use my Mac but at work, it is all Windows so I figured I should get up to speed on it.

How do you like the T100? I see Gamestop has them for $200. 2GB RAM, 64GB storage, and quad core BayTrail-T Z3775. Good deal?

Actually, you can get OS X's Expose feature on Windows 10. You will have to dig for it but I was pretty sure I saw in the Windows 10 review done by the WSJ last week.

I just nuked and paved an HP craptop that one of our 'guests' had borrowed. And loaded with malware and pr0n and gaming crapola. Heh... took a full day running on its own to download 1,423 (!) Microsoft updates for Win 7 before I could load Win 10.
10 seems snappier, but after getting rid of all that garbage an IBM PC/XT would have felt snappier. The interface is disorienting.. I'm used to Win 7 at work. But it's not as disorienting as Win 8 was.

Ever since Lion, I've been a bit baffled by Exposé. I can't remember the keyboard shortcuts anymore and I always end up in the wrong place and then I can't figure out how to bounce between open apps once I hit Exposé, without using the mouse (in all apps view). The one app view seems to work with arrow keys and tabs. Have post Lion releases refined the Mission Control hodge-podge?

To expound. You know where Windows fails? I mean just topples over into a pile of goo. Updates. It's a painful process on every machine I've ever needed to support, if you have to run all the updates from scratch. I wish Microsoft could roll up the updates a bit cleaner. Hopefully Windows 10 is better in this regard, but Windows 7 was not, and I don't remember Windows 8/8.1 being much different (although, my experience with the latter is much reduced).

I must admit that bringing Win 7 up to date was a time consuming process, even with a fast connection. Death by a thousand cuts, with most of them being security-related. The dearth of any updates for 10 is its saving grace for now, but who knows if that will continue.
I'm used to using hot corners to trigger Exposé, and apparently Win 10 also has that capability. Plus the button in the taskbar.
The thing that's always been funny with Windows is the disparate faces it shows. It's never been a surprise for a DOS-like window from 1983 to appear during certain tasks, like installations, and Win 8 and now 10 have the different styles of apps and control panels. OS X has its moments too, but is much more consistent.
One trick I learned today is right clicking on the Win menu will summon the old-style control panel in all its glory, instead of the dumbed-down version you get through the Settings item. Rearranging the menu tiles still has that clunky "Windows" feel, just like they've never been able to get their trackpad feel as good as Apple.
