Two Killed When Duck Boat and Tour Bus Crash in Seattle
#1
A tour bus collided with an amphibious duck tour vehicle in Seattle Thursday, killing two and injuring at least 21, officials said.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash. Two passenger cars were also involved in the crash, a Seattle Fire Department spokesperson said.

My wife almost took our two young kids and her dad to go there this morning. But she had this feeling that she shouldn't go.

Sweet Jeebus. That's terrible. Someone crossed the center line. That's usually what happens on the bridge. Especially if a bus and a Duck are side by side.

This is truly horrible. 4 people dead so far, 12 more critical, 30 more with non life-threatening injuries. 4 vehicles involved, one charter bus filled with international students, the Duck which would have been filled with tourists, plus a truck and an SUV.

I've always thought those Ducks were unsafe in city traffic - although of course the tour is really fun. Early reports from witnesses say the Duck swerved into the bus.

Yeah http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...ra-bridge/

the amphibious vehicle “swerved” and crashed into the Bellair charter bus. He said it appeared there was something wrong with the Duck’s front left tire, which had red fluid leaking from it.

That crash looks horrible, very sad results. The aftermath looks like it was from vehicles going over the posted 40 mph.

Hard to say... tons of mass involved. IIRC, unlike the "ducks" in many places, these are vintage WWII ducks so they're built to stop a ton of bullets.

The DUKW boats were not armored vehicles.

Not specifically armored, no... but it sure isn't a fiberglass boat.
