Trump's NFL debate arguement is rather baseless (and other conflicts)

The first debate on Sept. 26 is scheduled at the same time as a NFL game between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints, picked by Sports Illustrated as two of the five worst teams in their conference, airing on ESPN.

Later he received a grant of land from Count Gregory of Tusculum and so established the community which became the Monastery of Grottaferrata under Nilus' disciple St Bartholomew. Nilus died at Frascati on December 27.

Obviously, a bad day for a debate.

Not to side with Trump, but this is Monday Night Football.

Even if the debate schedule was hashed out before the NFL schedule was released, Everyone knew there would be a game on.

Since the schedule was a bi-partisan effort, one can assume that neither side wants anyone watching the debates.

People could probably watch a Presidential Debate AND Monday Night Football... after all there's 5 seconds of action and 30+ seconds between snaps. And the NFL games aren't much better. :-)

Should Trump really be worried about the NFL eating into debate ratings? Considering how insanely popular NFL telecasts are — they perennially dominate lists of the most-watched TV shows — you would think the answer is clearly yes. But the historical evidence isn't so conclusive.

Presidential debates have competed with prime-time NFL games three times since 1992, always against "Monday Night Football." Among 17 total debates, these three rank third, sixth and eighth in viewership — all in the top half.

As you can see, interest in the debates varies widely from one election cycle to the next, so it is also worth examining how debates that clashed with football rated in comparison to others in the same years. In 1992, the football debate drew the second-biggest audience out of three; it was first of three in 2004 and third of three in 2012. There is no pattern, in other words.
