"Sunday, R. Lee Ermey’s long time manager informed the world a little after 6:30pm EST that the beloved R. Lee Ermey “The Gunny” passed away Sunday morning due to complications from pneumonia.

Ermey was a beloved actor, Marine and staple of American culture."

I don't know much about Gunny, but I recall an anecdote about him being a technical advisor on being a DI in Full Metal Jacket and said he could do the job better than the actor.

The rest is history.

Even though it was a movie, I bet he put the fear of God into the actors during shooting.

He deserves every accolade and I hope he got rich. His featured role in "Boys" pre-dated FMJ by 9 years. Not sure what he did in between.
