I was just about to post that. I downloaded it yesterday and really like it. I've been using Photo and Designer and am sure Publisher will be just as groovy.
I recently upgraded to High Sierra and Creative Suite 5.5 stopped working very well, I have CS6 and it seems to be fine, but it's only a matter of time when it won't anymore. I'll be going Affinity all the way. I was waiting for Publisher and am happy it's here (Beta at least).

I really like their applications, I also have Photo and Designer. I just saw somewhere that Adobe is dropping support for El Cap in CC so those on it, like me, might find Publisher a good choice for the time being or if looking to move away from ID.

I'm a Quark guy from the beginning but never upgraded past 9.5 so that will probably go away soon. Never liked ID, but I'm liking Publisher.

I'm a Quark guy too and while I have worked in ID, I can't say I've liked it. I don't do much DTP anymore but have Quark 2015 on my old Mac Pro if I need it.
Since I've retired, I don't have my CC license from my job anymore but I have CS 5, 5.5 and 6 running. Since moving to El Cap, I haven't been able to use CS 6 Illustrator. Something is screwed with the legacy Java I needed to install.I managed to get CS 6 ID working however.
Hoping to like Publisher. I see they are still forcing the dark UI on people.

So... my BIG question about Affinity Publisher - Can it IMPORT InDesign documents?
I'm totally ready to move the few projects I may need to access in the future to something other than InDesign (since I'm suck on CS 5, and refuse to "rent" software I only use a couple times a year), but a couple books I've laid out, I really don't want to lose all that work!

Don't know, I don't have any here to check. It is not importing Quark docs, unfortunately. I will be posting on and reading their beta forum and that will be one of the questions that I'm sure will come up. They keep reminding us it is a Beta version.

OK, just created a quick ID doc, it will not open it. That may change.

I can see that it might be hideously complicated to program in InDesign import cabability... and I would understand if they didn't or couldn't... but I'm still going to hope!

If there is enough of a market, perhaps a plug-in be developed that will import Quark and/or ID docs. Something like PM2Q back in the day; they madea Quark to ID plugin, I think.
I used both Quark and ID, after starting with Pagemaker. I never came to love Quark. We regularly prepared materials in languages other than English, and as of about Pagemaker 3 or 4, this was easy because you could add the hyphenation dictionaries for a modest cost. In PM 5 and later, and in ID, those were included. The A-Holes at Quark wanted you to shell out an insane amount for another version of Quark, Quark Passport. It was such a dick move. And they never added a couple of common sense features that made life much, much easier for me in ID and Pagemaker.
