One of the best of the best. Loved him. He will "truly" be missed.

I loved that guy. I listened to his commentary every Wednesday and got to hear his last one a few weeks ago.

Quite a guy.

They had a whole day of tributes to him for his retirement. Just a couple of weeks ago.

Baltimore boy.

I'm going to break from the pack and say that I was finding Deford a bit too cranky for my taste the last couple of years. I got so I could take him or leave him. That is not meant to take away from his distinguished career and great talents. I know I am a minority of one here.

You're right. He got too deep into that sports purity thing. That's "always" annoying. Always. I never expect perfection though. The general arc of his work is impressive.
