It seems if I can get PIA-OpenVPN to work on my ASUS router, I won't need pi-hole.
So far it's a no go. Awaiting reply from PIA tech.

just be aware that some ads at the beginning of videos might still play. Also on cnn.com there are some ads from bank of america or lendingtree that will still appear, since those are hosted on amazon, not on specific as servers.
I think this is only temporary until ad companies will figure out and move their ads to AWS and similar domains we can't block. Enjoy it wile it lasts.

also after a few days, remove the Pi-Hole and go back to regular browsing, just to see how bad it was without it.

I plan to install a VPN to use my own DNS server at home. here are instructions at pi-hole.net but I don't travel much right now, so I put that on the back burner. I wish I had a pi-hole at work though.
