Dell Optiplex 9010 - i7 and 16GB memory... Need "less expensive" video card for gaming. Any suggestions?

I've acquired a well equipped Dell Optiplex 9010 w/ an i7 and 16GB of memory. Reloaded Windows 10 and put Fortnite on it for my son who wanted to "try" this on a Windows PC over the XBOX ONE. Frame Rate drops to crazy low. The video card is a AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series so pretty out of date. Our main outside IT guy helped me spec out of video card and some memory about a week ago for an older Optiplex with an i5 and 4GB of memory. I just don't want to ask him a second time for basically the same question but a better system. After he saw the specs of my other system he looked for "lower cost" upgrades that were lower power consumption. Here is what he suggested between $50-$100.

Radeon 580 or nVidia GeForce GTX 1660 - great cards. My son has the 580 and I have the 1660. One thing, most of these cards require an additional power source - six pin connector that plugs into the video card. My Dell Optiplex 7020 did not have this connector. Thus, I had to purchase an adapter that took two of the serial drive connectors and turned it into one six pin connector I could use on the video card. Everything works fine! Good luck!

GTX 1050 Ti is substantially better than the GT 710, and can be had for as low as $140.

Please be aware that AMD will be upgrading their video card line pretty soon and the average price of the RX-580 will likely drop 30%. The manufacturing process of the new AMD Radeon Pro Vega II in the new Mac Pro should be spreading through the product line with faster RAM.

The ATI RX 580 mentioned by others is only $10 - $20 more than the Nvidia 1050Ti I recommended, but is substantially faster.

The ATI RX 580 is also substantially cheaper than the NVidia GTX 1660, although somewhat slower (comparison here)

It seems the ATI RX 580 mentioned by sunfalcon and Filliam H. Muffman should just about fit your budget, and provide the performance you need.

Which ATI RX 580 are you guys recommending? So, these need additional power or a 6 pin connector?

Since I have an enclosed Dell XPS 8930, I got the standard Radeon with the blower out the back so the case stays cooler. If you google Radeon 580 power connector you will see that it's an 8-pin connector. If your PS does not have one, you can get adapters. The 1660 GTX runs on less watts than the 580 if that is an issue.

Hmm, it looks like you might be really limited by the power supply based on the specs on the Dell site. I had not realized they were so anemic compared to even a basic gaming PC.

This looks like the best tradeoff in power versus performance. Low power/low profile GTX-1050 Ti.

Do you think the extra $70 is well spent on Geforce-GTX-1050? Or save the $ and grab a Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5-2GL Low Profile 2G Computer Graphics Card? $90.00???
