If you decide not to go for your vaccination, notify your provider

We have a friend whose mother works for Walgreens. They are now tossing or returning unused, expired vials of vaccine because people are not showing up for appointments. She is very frustrated by how inconsiderate too many people are because the days of shortages and high demand are still very fresh in her mind. She knows that there are still places and people who need the vaccine. The two counties adjacent to mine are the two lowest percentage counties for vaccinations of the 87 counties in Minnesota. Needless to say, this is a red congressional district with plenty of gullible fools.

With stuff like this going on, I am seriously considering if there's any way I can get doubly vaccinated (I've already gotten the J&J, wondering if I could also get the Pfizer or Moderna) ... in my case, it might make sense to do so, but I'm sure insurance wouldn't cover it. On the other hand, if they're just throwing vaccine away, it would be stupid to not take advantage of it.

The people who refuse to get vaccinated are truly deluded and I'm afraid that all the rest of us will be paying for their idiocy, sooner or later.

State sponsored site. Make an appointment. No insurance card needed. I gave nothing other than my name when I had mine done at the county health department site.

Don't think it works that way in my state -- you will be asked to show ID, no matter where you go.

That was my experience also although I volunteered my Medicare number because there was a line for it. There was also a line for health insurance info which I left blank as did my wife who has no Medicare number. All they were interested in was pushing us through - vaccines in arms.

Yup. Pharmacies, hospitals, doctors offices and other businesses want to turn a profit or at least cover their overhead. They already have systems to bill insurance companies, so why not?

It isn't even worth the time it takes to build the system and process the paperwork for the National Guard or a Heath Department to even try and bill insurance companies. Half the time they would be billing themselves (Gov't sponsored insurance) anyway.

.....before it was difficult to nab an available appointment......lately there are so many appointments not even being filled......it's like people no longer want to get the vaccine....

More than 120 countries out there haven't received a single dose and we're throwing them away* - disgusting.

*not that the US public cares about or even notices anything two continents away!

This — the imminent tossing of vaccines —- is how many people first got jabbed back a few months ago when refreshing web pages and making phone calls wasn’t enough. It was more about hearing about how some place was like 30 minutes from now gonna toss a box in the trash or whatever. Back when the news had stories of health departments getting “creative” by jabbing people not yet on the Approved List and having the feds come in and confiscate supplies as a result. January-February was a very long time ago.

I was telling my 18 yr old he’s not on track to get vaccinated until December. He’s now a week away from his second shot and the nation is a week away from starting the beg the naysayers to get vaccinated.

I’m not saying everyone who wanted it has got it, but we are very rapidly getting to that point. Conservatives who have been crying since this time last year about the hardship now knowingly stand in the way of anything resembling herd immunity and normal life resuming with permanence. Embrace being in a hostage situation. You’re in it.
