From the prosecution’s closing remarks yesterday,
“The defendant — he chose pride over policing here,” Schleicher said, reminding the jury that Floyd called out to Chauvin that he was not “trying to win” during the fatal encounter. “But the defendant — the defendant was trying to win. He wasn’t going to be told what to do. He wasn’t going to take a challenge to his authority. He was trying to win.” Bringing the hammer down on Chauvin is not a stance against all police, Schleicher told the court. “Make no mistake: This is not a prosecution of the police. It is a prosecution of the defendant,” he said, adding that Chauvin’s actions were the reason for the trial. “And there’s nothing worse for good police than a bad police who doesn’t follow the rules, who doesn’t follow procedure, who doesn’t follow training, who ignores the policies of the department.” I sound like a broken record, but Chauvin’s behavior is not unique.

Justice prevails.
It's upsetting, though, that it wasn't a foregone conclusion that it would.

Important to remember the initial statement from Minneapolis on George Floyd's death. They called it a medical incident. No mention of what actually happened
https://twitter.com/chrisvanderveen/stat...76322?s=19 Today only happened because of citizen activism, and a brave teen girl who recorded the murder on her phone. |
