"The chancellor of the university, Howard Gillman, wrote in a letter to the campus community Wednesday evening that he had been 'prepared to allow a peaceful encampment to exist on the campus without resorting to police intervention,' but that by occupying a building, protesters had transformed 'a manageable situation that did not have to involve police into a situation that required a different response.'"
Was just on that campus last Friday for Law School commencement, and there was nothing going on anywhere near the Bren Events Center.

Well, at least they haven’t gunned anyone down, yet. It was worse in the 60’s. Back then the general population was in favor of violence against protesters. Perhaps the fallout will get complacent voters off their fat consumers butts to demand change.

They could have just left when they were asked to leave. Removing people who don't want to leave will never look good. This is what they wanted. The bigger issue is what's the punishment going to be. Usually, it's not much.

Anti-abortionists who interfere with clinics and block entry and invade the buildings are routinely convicted of crimes. I'm not a big fan of Free Speech for me and not for thee. Either everyone can do it or nobody can do it. (My vote would be for nobody to do it, unless they understand that arrest is very likely the end result, like the civil rights protestors did). vision is right, having these visuals hit social media is a win for the protestors. It's not like the sixties when the national guard had no shields, no face masks, no alternatives to rifles, and nobody telling them to not kill students.

If he had only followed the policeman’s directions, he’d still be alive now.
